She thought it would be hard to get Sherlock to agree to take a holiday together. He didn't seem to be much for vacations. But it had turned out to be a surprisingly easy sell. All she had to do was mention that it would mean missing Christmas dinner at his parent's cottage and he started searching for flights and hotels immediately. She could have pointed out that it was likely his parents would just invite them another time, but that seemed neither here nor there. They were going to take a holiday and she was exceedingly pleased.

The morning of their flight, Molly was giving Mrs. Hudson directions on caring for Toby while they were away. Sherlock was buzzing around, not at all hiding his impatience to just be off already - especially when Molly preceded to then say her goodbyes to the cat.

"Now you be good," she said to the feline. "Mummy will be back before you know it."

She could hear Sherlock's impatient eye roll from across the room as she kissed the top of Toby's head and then straightened up before grabbing her coat.

"All right. I'm ready now. Let's call the cab."

When Sherlock tells her to clear her calendar on December 16th, she has no idea what he's up to. And he isn't exactly being forthcoming with the details. Every time she tries to trick him into revealing something about the plan, he is (of course) two steps ahead of her, easily sidestepping the question or only hinting at the answer. So when the morning finally comes, she has no idea what to expect. With Sherlock there is no way to prepare for or guess at what's to come, so her plan is just to go with the flow, let him lead the way. He likes to do it anyway.

He's already up when she awakens and she pulls on her robe before padding out into the sitting room to find out what he's up to. A fire is going, which is good because the rest of the flat is chilly.

Molly sits in a small cafe around the corner from her flat. She's enjoying some tea and reading a book - taking full advantage of her day off. About 30 minutes after she sits down, she gets the feeling that someone is looking at her. She looks up from her book and scans the cafe but doesn't see anyone she recognizes. She goes back to her book, but some time later again feels the itch on the back of her neck of being watched. She looks up again and again doesn't see anyone looking at her.

She wonders if maybe it's Mycroft's people keeping an eye on her. It wouldn't be the first time (according to Sherlock). Apparently he had her under watch practically the whole time Sherlock was away dismantling Moriarty's network. Or if maybe Sherlock has one of his homeless network following her around.

To: Sherlock
From: Molly

[11:35]: Do you have someone watching me while you're working?

The feeling is bothering her enough that whatever his answer she decides to pack up and head back to her flat.
